As of 1st October 2011, sewer pipes connecting homes to the public sewers became the responsibility of local water authorities instead of the home owner. This has resolved the issues presented by shared drainage so that now there is either public sewers (owned and maintained by the sewerage companies) or private drains (which property owners are responsible for).

Water authorities will have their own contractors to do the required work for them so will not pay for our visit - therefore we will still charge an abortive call out fee of £60 + VAT if you call us out for a drain that is found to be the water company’s responsibility, so please check before you call us out!
